At last, 5minutes to myself!

Cairo is utterly filthy and full of mad drivers and I loved it!

The first foot off the plane, we didn’t even get to drop our cases off at the hotel ( Mena House Oberoi, very nice) but got whisked off to see a light show at the pyramids! I must say it was rather naff, I think it was cool in about 1972 ..

If you have never been to Cairo, the first thing you may notice if you go, is that there are no traffic rules at all, and no lanes, everyone just piles in! It’s a demolition derby, stock car racing style, plus camels and donkeys all in the middle of it! Every car is a rust bucket with scrapes and dents and if you see a decent car (rare) then it’s not from Cairo..

I thought I was in a Playstation game!

Taxi drivers, well Travis Bickle is a choirboy compared to Cairo taxi drivers. This pic below, would be on a good day..

Went to the Cairo museum, oh what a fabulous place! Could have stayed inside there for a month.

Saw pyramids of course, Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings and Queens, rode a camel, got ‘camelitis’ (a new age illness invented by me) and had to get 2 injections, one in my bum, one in my wrist. A snip at £80.

You know in ‘The Matrix’ where Neo wakes up after being programmed and says ‘I know Kung-Fu’ ? Well, I was dying of camelitis, and 45mins after the injections, I sat up, opened my eyes and said ‘I’m cured.’ Just like that. And then we went on our day trip. Much thanks to Miss Aston for being my nurse! The doc said that every tourist gets ill in Egypt..

We found Roman grafitti on a pillar, imagine that! Banksy are you listening? haha.

I couldn’t really get the pics I wanted, too many tourists around, but did get a few nice ones in the sunken bath, and I did do some nice ones of Eleanor!

Went to a bazzar which was an eye opener..
